FIFA 09 was EAs bestselling game last year, but EA Sports President Peter Moore wants bigger improvements to FIFA 10 to ensure it will hit the 90+ mark on Metacritic. FIFA 10 showed today at the E3 event that it was nearly 50% complete, so what you should fans be looking forward to in FIFA 10?
The biggest change is the new 360 degree control, which eliminates FIFA 09’s 8 directional player movements, giving FIFA 10 much greater finesse. So players in FIFA 10 will have more agile degrees of movement removing FIFA 09’s zig-zag player movements.

EA have actually focused on improving what’s already there, addressing problem areas which annoy the development team and community, as well as implementing a variety of new features. Importantly, the blocking and positioning of players has been made far more realistic, while also adding to the gameplay. Players will automatically receive the ball in the easiest way possible, for example, if you cross the ball and the receiving player is unmarked, the player will move back and receive the ball at his feet.

One specific game mode that EA Sports is currently talking about is the Manager Mode, and they promise that this mode will be expanded. Bidding wars from rival teams will affect player prices, while background calculations will change the flow of each match minute-by-minute. It’s certain that online play will also have a huge role in FIFA 10 with the popular Be-a-Pro mode definitely making a comeback – this time it might be possible for 11 vs. 11 with players also taking the role of the goal keeper (although this isn’t confirmed).

The practice arena will be expanded and will now offer full 11 vs. 11 play, allowing you to try out set-pieces and practice matches. Many of the interruptive animations, such as when you get booked by the referee will be removed. This will allow the games to flow, and you’ll be able to take quick free kicks or throw-ins – expect to pay close attention when playing online.

Although EA isn’t giving away to much information, some exciting features and gameplay changes have been shown. The EA Sports team will be kept busy throughout the next few months and we hope to see more information released soon – watch out for this one, it’s going to be amazing!
